• Hi folks,

the forum is now set to read only.

After 6 yrs under my control, I have done all the work on April 6th that was needed to be able to transfer the database, forum files and the domain to Philipp Moeller aka @Phil7. The Github repository was already transfered and under his control.

According to GDPR/DSGVO laws, all user accounts are now deleted that didn't accept the new terms (Updated on March 7th 2024 and an email was send to your address).

I wish you all a great future and health. As the internet is gigantic but sometimes also very small, I am sure we will bump into each other someday again. Looking forward to it. :-)

    Cheers
    Michael

I am not participating in the new place for various reasons.
If someone wants to contact me you can do so via mail to mike@fantomgl.com.

Hi all

It's been a while I'm finally get back into it after 2 full hard drive crashes in 2 years.

Trying to update my apps but even though I've copied my png icons into the res mipmap folders, the installed apk only has the cerberus head icon and I can't see how to change that?

I've deleted the old build folders and replaced the mipmap pngs but no joy.

Can anyone help please?

I can have a closer look tomorrow, but as a first idea: Did you change the images in the res folder inside the app directory or the res folder inside the gradletemplate directory? This makes a difference if I am not mistaken.

Thanks. I changed both as i couldn't remember which. It's been a while! But on compilation it creates a layout png with the cerberus logo.

I did a quick search for all pngs and there are 6 png files called ic_launcher_foreground which are the cerberus logo. All in android\app\build\generated\res\pngs\release but nowhere else in the build folder

Sorry the files are called ic_launcher_foreground.png not layout as I'd thought, I was away from my pc.

Ok. Maybe the pngs are recreated from the xml file everytime. You could try to remove the xml, but I will have a look tomorrow.

Thanks I won't be trying again till at least tomorrow. I'm very happy I managed to get it to compile for Android at least as I'd struggled on the weekend. :)

I tried some things and there is a folder inside res called mipmap-anydpi-v26. You need to delete this folder in both the app and the gradletemplate/app folder to make it use your png files. Let me bet you are using a device with Android 8.0+ (API 26) because from that version on the flexible xml icon is preferred to the fixed png icons. Before that the png files are used.

Awesome, that did the trick! Yes, using a Galaxy S20 with Android 13 on it.

My icons are now back. Thanks for your help.
